Pedro Proença defines Casa dos Atletas as a "unique project in Europe"

The president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Pedro Proença, today defined the Casa dos Atletas as a “unique project in Europe”, during a technical visit attended by Mayor Isaltino Morais.

"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for having believed so much in the creation of this sports infrastructure, which I would say is unique in Europe, and which will allow us to kick off our preparations for the World Cup, which will take place in the United States, where we want to be and where we obviously want to be with the great desire and expectation of becoming world champions," he said ambitiously about the space that hosts the various national teams in the now expanded Football City.

Pedro Proença welcomed the opportunity to move forward to the fifth and final phase of the project, which will allow the national football team to keep all the staff surrounding the athletes and coaches in training, simultaneously, in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.

The head of the FPF, accompanied by the rest of the Executive, received the president of the Oeiras City Council and his entourage, to whom they showed the result of the expansion works of the space, now with a second building that has practically doubled the capacity to receive athletes and staff, increasing from 44 to 74 rooms, and equipped with common rooms, a cafeteria, a kitchen and outdoor spaces.

"Today, we completed 74 rooms, ready to welcome all of our national teams, as well as all teams visiting the City of Football. I would say this is a unique project within Europe, here in Oeiras, and therefore, it is with immense satisfaction that at the beginning of next year we will be able to launch the fifth and final phase of the City of Football, where we will complete this cycle with the creation of the University of Football and also a beach soccer field, which was a necessity," reiterated Proença.

Alongside the president of the FPF, the President of the Oeiras City Council, Isaltino Morais, reserved the highest praise for the facilities, which will still be officially inaugurated on a date yet to be defined.
